‘Everything he does looks effortless’ – Liverpool fans beg their club to sign World Cup maestro

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been watching the World Cup carefully so far as they look for the stars that they want at Anfield next season. Yesterday saw Serbia overcome Costa Rica 1-0 in Group F and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was the name that caught the eye of our resident Reds, with good reason as the classy midfielder dominated on his World Cup debut.

The 23-year-old midfielder came into the World Cup in as good a form as any other player. The classy midfield maestro scored 12 goals and registered four assists in his 35 Serie A games for Lazio last season and he’s been valued at an incredible £81 million by the good people over at Transfermarkt. It will be a miracle if no one comes calling for the Serbian this summer, as he continues to impress on the biggest stage of them all.

If Liverpool were to make a move for the player, the fee involved would no doubt eclipse the club’s record transfer fee that they paid for Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch defender sign for £75 million in January and instantly improved their back line. If the club forked out for Milinkovic-Savic, Jurgen Klopp would expect him to make an immediate impact to their midfield, which would be extremely likely alongside the likes of new men, Naby Keita and Fabinho.

The Liverpool fans in our bar would all love to see Milinkovic-Savic come through the door at Anfield, although the fee involved would make it a very tough deal to complete.
