Ex-Premier League midfielder set to join Crystal Palace

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern weren’t expecting him to make the switch across London…

Whilst Mathieu Flamini’s second tenure at Arsenal didn’t end as many of the Arsenal fans here in the Tavern had hoped, his signing still proved to be a success – albeit a short-term one.

His contract with the London giants ended at the end of last season, and the French midfielder has since been on the hunt for a new club.

He has been linked with a number of clubs over the last few weeks, both within England and abroad – but it appears that one of Arsenal’s London rivals are set to seal the deal for the midfielder.

According to Sky Sports, Flamini is currently undergoing a medical with Crystal Palace ahead of a permanent move to the London club.

Palace were one of the clubs touted with a move for the Frenchman, and Alan Pardew recently confirmed that the club were keen on a deal.

Whilst his game-time at Arsenal diminished during his final few months with the club, Flamini proved over the last few years that he was a more than adequate rotational player for Arsene Wenger’s side, and our landlord thinks that he can go one better at Crystal Palace.

Alan Pardew’s men have been seeking midfield reinforcement following Mile Jedinak’s departure earlier in the year, and our bar staff think that Flamini certainly fits the bill.

The French midfielder comes with a wealth of experience and Premier League know-how, and our landlord thinks that this could prove crucial as Alan Pardew looks to weather the storm at Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace fans – we want to hear from you! A good deal or not? Arsenal fans – what could he bring to the table for Pardew?
