Ex-Chelsea ace will not be tempted by summer move to ‘top clubs’

Kevin de BruyneChelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are impressed by how Kevin De Bruyne has resurrected his career and the London Evening Standard have reported how he will resist the lure of ‘top clubs’.

The comments were made by his club teammate Marcel Schafer and he is confident that De Bruyne will ignore the recent interest after his tough time at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old only made three appearances between 2012 and 2014 for the Blues, before making his £18m move to Wolfsburg last summer.

But now he has proved his doubters wrong and has scored 14 goals and has created 21 assists so far this season.

He is now in a great position after helping Dieter Hecking’s side reach the quarter finals of the Europa League.

De Bruyne now has the world at his feet but despite his great potential, Schafer is confident that he will stay in the green shirt of Wolfsburg next season.

“I think that our chances [of keeping De Bruyne] are really good,” he said.

“He has already experienced not getting so much time on the field at Chelsea, which is top club in Europe.

“And that is why I think the best thing for him would be to stay for minimum one more year at Wolfsburg.

“Next year he could play Champions League here and win titles with us.

“If you want to win titles you need extraordinary players. And you really have to say that Kevin De Bruyne is at the moment the best player in the Bundesliga not only because of his stats.

“You can see that in every single game. And we’re really, really happy to have him and to keep him till the next season or maybe a little bit longer.”

A few Chelsea fans over by the bar in the Football Transfer Tavern admit they wish they had kept hold of KDB, as he is proving all the doubters wrong in Germany!
