The Chelsea fans over by the bar have been intrigued to read in a HITC Sport report that former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho persuaded Ramires to leave Stamford Bridge and move to China.
Brazilian midfielder Ramires spent six years at Chelsea before moving to Jiangsu Suning back in January in a £25 million deal.
The box-to-box player won all of the major honours available to him in England, having being successful in the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
The 29-year-old had also been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, although he has now revealed that a conversation with his compatriot Paulinho ultimately swayed his decision. Ramires admitted:
“I chose to play for Jiangsu because I spoke a lot to Paulinho, who plays for (fellow Chinese team) Guangzhou Evergrande. We met a lot in England, and he spoke very highly about football in China.”
Our landlord thinks that Ramires had a lot to offer for Chelsea and that he could be a huge miss when Antonio Conte takes charge next season.
