Metro have a claim that has brought the Football Transfer Tavern to a stand still, as they note that a former Chelsea hero is looking to return to the club.
Didier Drogba had been linked with a move to the club in a coaching capacity, but it seems that the legendary Blues forward has something else on his mind.
He has claimed that not only does he feel more than able to carry on his playing career for a fair few more seasons yet, but he is also willing to re-join his former manager Jose Mourinho.
The relationship between the Blues manager and the Ivorian forward has been well documented, and we are in no doubt that both would love a reunion.
Chelsea have not exactly been firing on all fronts – well on any – when it comes to their forward line this season, and Drogba could well be the key to changing that.
The Galatasaray forward was asked about a potential reunion and noted: “I had a great time at Chelsea and if Jose was saying, “Didier, I want you to come back”, I would think about it.
“If, and I say if, by any chance it [returning to the Premier League] could happen, it would only be with one team.
“It’s impossible to stop time but it’s possible, with your intelligence on the pitch and your experience, to play at a high level even for two or three more years.”
