Excellent Juventus man plays down Man United links

AllegriManchester United fans bringing in the weekend with a few rounds in the Transfer Tavern are discussing comments from a European star, who played down the chances of a Premier League switch.

The Guardian reports that Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has played down the chances of him succeeding Louis Van Gaal as Manchester United manager.

48-year-old Allegri was touted as a candidate to replace Van Gaal at Old Trafford upon the Dutchman’s retirement in 2017, which coincides with when Italian manager Allegri’s deal with the Turin giants expires.

However, speaking to Corriere Dello Sport ahead of tonight’s Serie A clash with Lazio, Allegri spoke of his commitment to Juventus.

“I have a contract running until 2017. I’m happy here and I’m focused on Juventus’ objectives.”

“They are much more important than these rumours which come from elsewhere. In a month the transfer window will be open, so that’ll please you and you’ll be able to move on.”

United fans aren’t too convinced by the manager’s comments though and are waiting to see whether he will extend his current deal with the Italian giants.
