The results are in from the poll we ran here in the Transfer Tavern yesterday and it’s certainly given our local Manchester United fans an ego boost.
We felt it was time to settle one of the great debates in football yesterday as we asked whether Manchester United or their great rivals Liverpool were the bigger force in the game.
It was a fairly close run thing but, in the end, as has been the case in recent years, United came out on top with the majority voting for them.
The most top flight English titles, the biggest stadium, some of the world’s best players and a truly global brand have combined to see United come out on top – leaving Liverpool feeling rather blue for sure.
It’s something Jurgen Klopp and his men will be determined to turn around but these things take time, just as Sir Alex Ferguson found out in turning the tide in the Red Devils’ favour in the first place.
The Kopites will want their mantle back as the country’s most dominant side but, for now, it’s Manchester United who take the ultimate bragging rights.
