Arsenal and Manchester United fans are reacting to news that they’ve been informed of in the Transfer Tavern, which indicates a midfield target of theirs will not be on the move in January.
TalkSport state that both Premier League clubs are chasing Besiktas ace Oguzhan Ozyakup, with both United and Arsenal pushing to clinch the league title this season.
Turkish international Ozyakup has developed into a fine player since leaving Arsenal in 2011 and his form has seen his former employers linked with a January move. However, club president Fikret Orman has ruled out such a deal taking place when talking to Fanatik.
“He will not be leaving over the winter, there’s no way we can let that happen. But, after Euro 2016 I don’t know if we’ll be able to keep him.”
Next summer could be too late for Arsenal, who have been rocked by the recent injury to Francis Coquelin, and the Gunners need midfield recruits in the New Year to bolster their squad ahead of a challenging campaign.
United face similar issues, with their squad looking bare in places and Louis Van Gaal searching for key additions once the transfer market reopens.
Should both Premier League clubs challenge the president’s claims or set their sights elsewhere? Let us know in the comments below!
