Premier League

Experience could be key at Huddersfield next season, and this man could provide it in abundance

Some might call it a minor miracle, but last season David Wagner guided his Huddersfield Town side to the Premier League after dispatching both Sheffield Wednesday and Reading in the end of season play offs.

The German boss has received a number of plaudits throughout the footballing world, but the admiration shown towards the manager by Terriers fans is second to none, and our contingent of drinkers from west Yorkshire are no exception.

Our resident Huddersfield Town fans here at the Transfer Tavern danced the night away after their victorious play off run, and some say they are only just getting over their hangovers.

Our landlord caught up with the sore headed fans to talk all things Huddersfield over a hair of the dog pint, and summer transfer dealings were at the forefront of the conversation.

Experience will be essential if Huddersfield are to stay up, and a level headed Premier League pro would make the world of difference at the John Smith’s Stadium next year.

Our landlord can’t see any further than the vastly experienced Sebastian Larsson, who has graced the Premier League for a number of years with Birmingham City and Sunderland.

The Swedish midfielder has 90 caps for his national side, and over 330 Premier League appearances to his name.

A free agent this summer having being released by the Black Cats following their relegation, the player will dream of another top flight move, and Huddersfield should provide him with that opportunity.

An experienced head who knows the league inside out, Larsson could be an example to follow in Yorkshire next season for the Terriers’ Premier League adventurists.
