Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern barely battered an eyelid when they heard who’s set to leave this summer, although they were surprised about where a potential move could see said player move to.
The Daily Express cites reports that indicate Arsenal veteran Mathieu Flamini is considering a move to the MLS at the end of the season, as his contract with the Gunners is due to expire and he’s extremely unlikely to be offered a new deal.
Flamini has been regularly utilised by Arsene Wenger this season but his performances have been questioned and recently he’s fallen behind favoured midfield pairing Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny, who continue to excel.
With Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla still in the mix, there seems to be no place for Flamini at Arsenal and he’ll have his pick of a number of clubs across the pond, as numerous MLS clubs are eyeing his signature.
Now 32, Flamini is in the twilight years of his career and it seems like this move would be a good option for him- although it wouldn’t be a high profile transfer.
