Experienced boss fancies his chances of taking West Brom up next season – Report

West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern have resigned themselves to the fact that their side will be playing Championship football next season, however, they may have been given a boost about who will try and guide them out of the division.

Sky Sports are reporting that Mick McCarthy would consider the job at The Hawthorns to replace Alan Pardew, should the Baggies approach him about it. The Ipswich Town boss will be available to take over in the summer after he revealed that he would be leaving the Portman Road club at the end of the current campaign.

The former Republic of Ireland manager believes he could be the man to steer West Brom back to the Premier League as he has the experience and knowledge of how the difficult the division is to get out off.

It remains to be seen if any of the locals in the Tavern would be interested in taking McCarthy as their new boss, considering his history with arch-rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, although he is not concerned by it.

Landlord’s Verdict

West Brom fans in the Tavern will be looking for a manager that can get the best out of the players in a difficult league and McCarthy has the experience and record of doing that. However, it would be difficult for the punters to accept his history when it came to helping Wolves win the division back in 2009.
