Chelsea fans are still coming to terms with the announcement of club captain leaving in the summer after revealing yesterday that he was not going to get a deal at Stamford Bridge.
Our Landlord at the Transfer Tavern though does have some good news for Chelsea fans, reported by The Daily Mail.
He has heard today that Gary Cahill has insisted that he wishes to remain at Chelsea and help the club back into the top four of the Premier League, after a heart to heart talk with Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink.
The 30-year-old was reported to have been unsettled at the Champions, having lost his place to youngster Kurt Zouma, who has been preferred to partner for the now departing John Terry.
Cahill had been worried about his place in Roy Hodgson’s England side ahead of the Euro’s this summer but, after meeting with Hiddink and another club official, Cahill has vowed that he will stay and fight for his place in the Chelsea’s starting eleven.
They had been interest from Serie A side Roma but Cahill’s statement will probably end that particular speculation.
