The Southampton fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing another name linked with becoming the club’s new manager.
The Daily Echo is reporting that former Roma manager Rudi Garcia is now the favourite to replace Ronald Koeman as the club’s new manager.
Koeman left St Marys earlier this week to take over from Roberto Martinez at Everton, and their have been numerous names linked with the Southampton role including Eddie Howe and Frank De Boer.
The 52 year old has jumped to the top of the bookmakers list to replace Koeman as the South Coast club’s new manager.
Garcia has been out of work since the turn of the year when a mixed run of results saw him sacked by the hierarchy at Serie A club Roma.
His managerial honours include a French league and cup double from his time in charge at Lille in 2011 and during his spell in Italy he led Roma’s to the runners up spot in Serie A during seasons 2013/14 and 2014/15 respectively.
Would Garcia be a good appointment for Southampton? Let us know in the comments below!
