Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have their head in their hands this afternoon as they read the latest gossip over a warm cup of coffee, with reports of a further blow to their club.
34-year-old Carrick has just five-months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and is now free to talk to clubs outside of England regarding a pre-contractual agreement, with it looking extremely likely the veteran will leave Manchester.
Carrick is in his tenth season at United and the Red Devils are likely to offer him rest terms, though Carrick is listening to offers from elsewhere before making a decision.
An exit for the long-serving midfielder would make the problems that need solving at United much more difficult to fix, with a major overhaul likely after Louis Van Gaal’s ill-fated regime is called to an end.
Our landlord believes it’s the right time for Carrick to move on and feels he’ll be a star for a lower-ranked side in the top-flight.
United fans, are you happy to let Carrick leave this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
