Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed news of a positive U-turn this morning, with an experienced player reconsidering his decision to leave.
The Manchester Evening News claims that 30-year-old Aleksander Kolarov now wants to stay at Manchester City because of the arrival of Pep Guardiola, who was confirmed on Monday as taking charge of the Citizens from this summer.
The left-back has been linked to a whole host of Serie A outfits, including Inter Milan, where former City boss Roberto Mancini is currently in charge. However, the revelation that Guardiola will take control at the Etihad next season has reportedly prompted Kolarov to reconsider his future.
The Serbian international has made 20 Premier League appearances for the Blues this term, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
Renowned for his powerful set pieces and swinging crosses, Kolarov has been linked with a move away from England for the past couple of years, with the belief that his age will soon be a detriment against him.
Our landlord believes that a full-back is a position for a young player who is full of energy, and is City’s alternative Gael Clichy counts as a home grown player, Kolarov may still be the player who departs in the summer.
