Experienced midfielder set to become a free agent in the summer

Manchester United v Manchester City - Barclays Premier LeagueThe Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been alarmed at their slide on the field over the last year or so and are ready to wash their hands of the 2015/16 campaign.

Talk in the bar has already turned towards which players will be at Old Trafford next season, and which players will move on to pastures new during the summer.

The landlord has spotted an article in today’s Metro which claims that Michael Carrick could be set to leave United, with talks over a new contract practically non-existent, which could tempt the midfielder into a departure.

The 34-year-old has suitors in the Premier League, Europe and in China, with no shortage of offers expected for the influential defensive midfielder.

One United fan is sat chatting with the landlord and he is disappointed that no contract offer has been put on the table. He thinks that Carrick still has a lot to offer and the club should offer him the chance to see out his playing days at Old Trafford.

United fans… Should the club let Carrick leave? Can he still do a job for the club?
