Villa fans have had a season to forget and their suffering supporters here in the Tavern saw their manager Remi Garde leave this week after only 147 days in charge.
With the club almost guaranteed to be relegated to the Championship at the end of the season things can only get better, or so they hope, but the short-term future of the club doesn’t look great.
Some of their fans in here are taking small bets on who could replace Garde. But the question is would anybody be willing to take over such a club in crisis?
But Villa are still a massive club in this country and the latest speculation is that David Moyes could be set for a return to management in England at Villa Park, with The Daily Mail stating his the favourite to land the job.
The former Manchester United and Everton boss has been out of work since leaving Real Sociedad towards the end of last year.
He will be eager to repair his reputation which took a hit during his ill-fated ten month spell in charge of Manchester United where he tried to follow in the steps of Sir Alex Ferguson following his fellow Scot’s retirement in 2013.
Villa looks like being a big rebuilding job but it could be good for Moyes to work his way back into top-flight management.
The Villa fans here still regard Moyes as a top manager and they would be happy to see him take to the Villa Park dugout but one thing is for sure he would still need a lot of help from above because the club is still in one hell of a mess off-the-field.
