Experienced striker rules out move to Chelsea in January

van PersieChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite sure how to react this evening, after an experienced striker ruled out a move to Stamford Bridge in January.

Quotes from Fenerbahce striker Robin Van Persie made to Turkish Football directly address links with a return to the Premier League, with a move not on the cards.

“There is a lot of talk about Chelsea and Barcelona but I have received no offers and I am dedicated to Fenerbahçe.”

Van Persie has endured a tough time in Turkey after leaving Manchester United in the summer, with the former Arsenal captain suffering immediate disappointment as his side were knocked out of the Champions League in the qualifying stages.

However, he found the net this weekend in a 3-1 victory over Mersin Idman Yurdu and his relationship with Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira has been patched-up, following a fall-out previously.

Chelsea fans in the bar aren’t too concerned as they believe their club should be targeting players of a higher calibre, in their bid to turn around an atrocious start to the season.
