Fabinho done: Liverpool must now land £63m-rated man that could turn them into title winners

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were jumping with joy on Monday evening owing to the capture of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho. A move came out of the blue, but the Reds confirmed that a deal had been agreed on Monday evening.

It’s a move that will be huge for Liverpool next season, given their midfield struggles last season, and it will offer Jurgen Klopp another fantastic option through the middle of the park.

However, a big task still lies ahead of the German, and one area that needs to be improved comes between the sticks. Loris Karius, simply put, isn’t good enough – and Klopp must replace him.

Apparently, according to the Mirror, they’re looking to do just that, with Jan Oblak apparently Klopp’s number one goalkeeping target this summer. Though, obviously, a move for Oblak would be audacious, there is no doubting that a move for the Slovenian could put Liverpool in contention for a Premier League title chase next season.

Oblak, who is rated at £63 million by Transfer Markt, has emerged as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers in recent years.

Currently playing for Atletico Madrid, he has been their number one over the last few years, taking over the mantle from Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois brilliantly.

He’s a brilliant shotstopper, and that would help to prevent any mistakes like the ones that Karius regularly makes. Furthermore, he’s also solid in the air, he’s agile, and he is very consistent.

At 25-years-old, the Slovenian has his best years ahead of him, and it’s clear that he’s getting better and better each year. For Liverpool, then, this would be a pricey, but worthwhile investment.

Liverpool’s main problem this season has been in goal. Mistakes in this area that have cost them points, and more recently they have cost them trophies. That needs to stop, and if Oblak comes in, the Reds could be onto something special – and a Premier League title challenge could genuinely follow.
