The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to what is sure to be a very exciting summer. With a number of players playing in the World Cup, the Reds will still get their fix of Anfield-based action, whilst several major transfer moves are also likely on the horizon.
It will be very interesting to see how the Reds will line-up next season, especially given how many players are said to be on their radar.
Jurgen Klopp clearly has big plans for his team, and if he were to sign a few of his main targets, it’s fair to say that they would undoubtedly be able to challenge Man City at the top of the Premier League.
Bringing them in, of course, is no easy feat, but they recently announced the signing of Fabinho – and so if that is anything to go by, Liverpool are a team on a mission this summer.
But how could they line-up next season if Jurgen Klopp does get all the players that he wants?
In goal, a change is clearly needed, with Loris Karius not impressing in the Champions League final. Alisson, it seems, is one of their preferred targets, and he’d add some real quality between the sticks.
Liverpool’s defence really picked up towards the end of last season, and so changes aren’t expected at the back. Andy Robertson will likely keep his place, as will Trent Alexander-Arnold. Virgil van Dijk was the big capture of last season, whilst Dejan Loren has really stepped up lately.
In midfield, though, it’s all change. The acquisition of Fabinho was recently confirmed by Liverpool, and you’d expect him to sit at the heart of the midfield. Naby Keita, likewise, is a signing that has already been confirmed, with the RB Leipzig man set to move to Anfield on July 1st. Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to be locked in talks over a deal for Nabil Fekir, who currently plays for Lyon. Able to play in a number of positions, it’s easy to see him fitting in alongside Keita and Fabinho – with the Frenchman’s pace and trickery making him a brilliant asset.
Going forward, it would be impossible to replace any of the talented trio that saw so much success this season in Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmin and Sadio Mane.
It’s clear, then, that the Liverpool team will be something special if Klopp gets all his men.
