Another season has passed, and the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left feeling disappointed once again. After a poor campaign last term, fans were hopeful of a turnaround in what has turned out to be Arsene Wenger’s final campaign, but things have only gotten worse for the Gunners.
Particularly in recent weeks, they’ve failed to give Le Prof the send-off that he has deserved, and that’s highlighted just how many problems his successor will have at the club.
To be fair, Arsene Wenger’s time has been coming for a while, and most certainly, a change in management was needed as Arsenal look to turn around their fortunes.
However, the blame cannot all be pointed at him. A handful of players have disappointed this season, and their form has been perhaps the most difficult thing for fans to witness, as they’ve been the players in the past that have been instrumental in their team’s success.
With that said, Wenger has these 2 Arsenal players to blame for missing out on the top four this season…
Petr Cech has been one of Europe’s best for years, but his career has been going one way for a few years now.
He’s never really been at his best since he moved to Arsenal, and this year he has gotten particularly poor.
He’s been mistake-prone, and he’s no longer providing those magical saves that made him so special at Chelsea. That’s often been the difference between a win and a draw for the Gunners.
At 35-years-old, the Gunners really need to think about replacing him.
On his day, there is nobody better than Mesut Ozil.
However, this season, the German simply hasn’t been good enough.
He can go missing for weeks, and even when he does perform, you can’t guarantee that he will do the same thing a week later.
That lack of consistency has played a crucial role in Arsenal’s struggles this season, and if he continues to perform poorly, his future at the Emirates surely must be considered – even with his latest contract.
