De Gea – 7 Made some great stops, saving well from both Adebayor and Livermore but still needs to work on his kicking and his command of his area.
Jones – 6 Solid at the back, he was not able to get forward to the effect that he is able to but today it was not required of him.
Evra – 6 Got forward on occasion but was more concerned with his defensive duties today. Aaron Lennon’s pace is always a threat Evra dealt with this well after a shaky start.
Ferdinand 7 – Marshalled the United defence superbly all match. Made several last minute tackles and was able to intercept many passes proving his ability to read the game from the back is still second to none. On form like this he surly is a certainty to be on the plane to Poland come June.
Evans- 7 A solid partner alongside the outstanding Ferdinand. They were able to snuff out any threat from Spurs strikers Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Carrick- 6 Played the vital role of midfield anchorman. Wasn’t able to get close to the ball in the 1st half as Spurs dominated but was able to gain more control as the game went on and was able to provide some intelligent passing with little hassle.
Scholes – 6 Not at his influential best today. The young Spurs midfield of Jake Livermore and Sandro made it difficult for the veteran to get on the ball as much as he would have wanted to and were able to overrun Scholes and Carrick in the 1st half.
Young- 8 Star Man. Only show glimpses of the pace and trickery that he posses in the first half but definitely made up for this with two superb second half strikes. For the 1st he was able to magnificently contort his body and able to find the far post with a great volley. And for the second he was given way too much time on the edge of the box and sent a curling effort sailing into the far post similar to the strike he got against Arsenal early in the season. Devastating.
Nani – 5 Had one of his quieter days today. The Portuguese international was not able to provide the outlet they would have wanted from him. That said United didn’t really do much attacking wise in the first half and he spent much of his day helping to protect his full back
Rooney- 6 Not at his best but still provided the all important opener on the stroke of half time. Was on the periphery for most of the game but still provided energy and commitment as well as his goal.
Welbeck- 6 Was an outlet for United all match. Though he didn’t see much of the ball, he always made himself available and worked his socks off in his lone striking role. Service was at a minimum but his hard work would be greatly appreciated by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Friedel 6 Picked the ball out the net three times. Lots of questions about the Tottenham back four, most of them unfit to print on a family site such as this.
Walker 5 He really struggled and acknowledged same in his post match Tweets.
Kaboul 6 Younes isn’t benefiting from being paired with now sluggish looking King. Centre back need to be a unit and they were miles away from being so.
King 5 We’ve been riding our luck frankly. No proper training, a bit of swimming… And now that luck appears to have run out.
Ekotto 6 Saw plenty of the ball but I’m unconvinced he achieved an awful lot with it. Not for the first time he looked happier going forward than defending.
Livermore 7 He’s been a work in progress this season but that performance was very much to his credit and if he can play like that every week all to the good.
Modric 7 Sticking him on the wing wouldn’t have been my first idea and consequently he didn’t get to dictate much if any of the play. A decent game, but on the wing.
Sandro 7 Another creditable performance after an injury induced absence. What he did achieve was to take the edge off of Paul Scholes so a decent shift.
Lennon 8 When he had the ball it felt like something was going to happen. Not much did in truth, but nevertheless he looked up for it, skipping and zipping along.
Saha 6 Began brightly. He looked hungry as hell but began to fade. Arguably should have been substituted at half time.
Adebayor 6 Horrible first touch for most of the game.
Defoe 7 Should have come on a hell of a lot earlier than he did. Why didn’t Arry change things sooner? Only Arry can Answer that. He likes likes talking to the press so maybe someone should ask him. The sooner this England job business is resolved the better for all concerned.
