The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been frustrated by their side’s poor defensive form this season. The Red Devils have looked poor at the back over the last few weeks, in particular, with the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling really struggling.
It’s strange to see, given how strong and resolute Jose Mourinho-led teams normally are, but the Portuguese simply doesn’t have enough quality to choose from at the back at present.
Fortunately, then, Man Utd’s latest fitness boost could not have come at a better time. According to Mourinho, defender Eric Bailly is back to fitness and is in contention to feature for the Red Devils against Huddersfield this weekend.

Bailly hasn’t featured for Man Utd since November, and it’s fair to say that he has been missed. He’s had his fitness issues since moving to Old Trafford, but whenever he has played he has looked solid – and that’s more than can be said for some of his teammates.
This news has pleased our resident Red Devils, with fans clearly desperate for more defensive efficiency.
With Man Utd set to embark on a crucial period in their season, with some key Premier League, Champions League and, of course, FA Cup fixtures on the horizon, Bailly is back just when his club need him.
He’s their best central defender, and he’ll come straight back into the team – provided that he is at 100%.
