Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are excited about the future Reds climbing their way up the academy ranks, as Steven Gerrard’s U18 boys have the makings of becoming future stars.
The Reds have always prided themselves on producing some of England’s most promising homegrown talent, after seeing Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher go from Merseyside school boys to Kop legends. And, the long line of flourishing young talent coming out of Melwood is something that the club want to experience for years to come. Indeed, after seeing manager Jurgen Klopp’s decision to gift thriving young players a chance with Joe Gomez and Ben Woodburn featuring last year in the side, there’s an incentive to be had for any of the Reds’ prodigies dreaming of a place in the first-team.
And, Liverpool look to have found their next promising product to be gifted a chance to shape his own future with the club, as one of Gerrard’s own U18 players Curtis Jones has put pen to paper on his first professional contract. A player that shares an almost identical path to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher after starting up in the academy at a similar age, as the 17-year-old will look to follow on in the footsteps of the former Red.
Nevertheless, Liverpool’s Twitter account took to notifying fans of the youngster signing his first professional contract at Anfield.
