The young full-back grew up around Manchester and has been at the club for almost ten years having joined as a seven-year-old. Williams has been part of the successful United side that was won the U18 Premier League North title and he’ll be apart of the squad that faces Chelsea in Saturday’s national play-off final at Leigh Sport Village. The defender will join players such as Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford who also came through the club’s youth ranks.
Manchester United have a rich history of developing young players from Manchester and have long-held a tradition of including homegrown players in matchday squads. When the Red Devils beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 back on October 30th, it marked 80 years of homegrown players featuring in the squad with at least one player from the club’s academy being in a matchday squad since October 30th 1937. Brandon Williams is just the latest player in a long tradition and he’ll be keen to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.
