There is a party mood building amongst the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern. The Lilywhties put in a fantastic performance in Germany on Tuesday evening to defeat Borussia Dortmund, securing their path into the last 16 as group winners. After a disappointing defeat to Arsenal over the weekend, the performance was really needed, and every single player delivered.
Following the game, Mauricio Pochettino has seen fit to praise a few players, but it was Danny Rose that was perhaps lavished with the most support from the boss. Speaking following the game, according to Football.London, he described Rose’s performance as ‘fantastic’.
Pochettino said: “We must recognise that [his fantastic performance]. In the second half, and the whole game, after 10 months injury it’s difficult. The performance was great”.
It has been a difficult year for Danny Rose, given his recent injury problems, and so his recent return to form has been fantastic to watch. It takes a very strong character to bounce back from setback-after-setback, with his latest hurdle coming over the weekend after being dropped by Pochettino, but he continues to get better and better.
After his latest display, and given Pochettino’s recent words, it’s safe to say that Rose could find himself back in the first team this weekend, too.
Danny Rose’s future looks uncertain, but his performances certainly do not.
Against Dortmund, he put in arguably his best display since returning to fitness, and that’s a testament to his character.
Pochettino is clearly still a big fan of him, and so if he chooses to stay, his future looks bright.
