Manchester United are expected to complete wholesale changes this summer but who oversees these changes remains to be seen, with the managerial gossip really heating up.
The Sun states Jose Mourinho, who’s remained favourite to replace Louis Van Gaal this summer at Manchester United since mid-December, has demanded a written promise from the Red Devils that he will be given the job.
Despite Mourinho’s availability and United’s continued struggles on the field, there’s yet to be any concrete reports that the former Chelsea boss will return to the Premier League this summer- although there has been plenty of rumours that suggest that’s the case.
United are said to have contacted Mourinho quickly after his axe from Chelsea earlier in the season, telling him not to accept another job offer, but the board remain split on their views towards Mourinho and there’s increasing speculation Van Gaal could see out the remainder of his contract.
It’s a massive decision from Manchester United, who’ll have to compete with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Antonio Conte’s Chelsea next summer, and the Red Devils will be keen to ensure they don’t slip up once again.
