Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Wolves as Jurgen Klopp paid the price for heavy rotation.

The Reds made nine changes to the side that was beaten by Manchester City with Rafael Camacho and Curtis Jones making their debut for the senior team. An injury to Dejan Lovren forced Klopp into handing a debut to 16-year-old centre-back, Ki-Jana Hoever, who featured alongside Fabinho in a makeshift defence. Liverpool ultimately paid the price, crashing out of the competition early once again.

Without Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Liverpool looked lacklustre in attack with Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge failing to offer any threat to the Wolves defence. The defeat highlighted the lack of quality back up options in attack should Klopp lose any more key players to injury. Landing another attack could prove to be crucial in the long term.

The ideal target would be CSKA Moscow – Fedor Chalov. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, the youngster has been one of the stand out players in the Russian Premier League so far. Now promoted to the first-team, Chalov has grabbed his opportunity with both hands, becoming an important player for his side in the process.

Chalov has found the back of the net 11 times already this season, including two strikes in the Champions League. The youngster is blessed with terrifying pace that would cause Premier League defences plenty of problems and his expert finishing ability would give Klopp a brilliant rotation option from the bench. Chalov is still developing and improving, working alongside Liverpool’s world-class attackers would only aid his progress.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has a reputation for bringing the best out of youth players – Chalov could be his next big project.
