Here at the Football Transfer Tavern it comes as no surprise to us that the Daily Mirror claim that Borussia Dortmund player Robert Lewandowski is looking for a transfer and Manchester United are top of his wish list.
The player has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, yet since the form and arrival of Robin van Persie from Arsenal, doubts were raised and the rumors were put on the back burner. Add to this Dortmund’s upward mobility in European football and a move away from Signal Iduna Park looked very unlikely.
Now it has been claimed that Manchester United are firmly back in the hunt for the player and are even willing to let Javier Hernandez leave in order to land him. As we were discussing yesterday in the tavern, the Mirror also reported that Real Madrid are trailing the Mexican forward.
Now Lewandowski is eyeing up a move to the Premier League and after netting 19 goals in 27 games this season anyone who lands him will be getting a top class player. It seems almost certain he will leave Germany in the summer with his agent noting that: “Anyone who has followed Robert’s career will know that he has never played at any club for longer than two years. At Dortmund, he has been playing his third season. Anyone who can read between the lines knows what that means.”
Can the Red Devils land Lewandowski this summer? And would you be unhappy if Hernandez departed? Let us know your thoughts below.
