With the season gathering pace – not to mention the transfer window getting ever closer, the Football Transfer Tavern is heating up – never more so than when Charles Perrin of the Express pops in with a cracker concerning Manchester United.
News that the club are moving to shore up their defence after manager Sir Alex Ferguson stated that he “might have to play” against City if things did not improve is about as good news to United fans as ‘happy hour’ is in the tavern and the subject of Fergie’s attention is Molde defender and Norwegian international Vegard Forren.
Fergie will have to move quickly however as Forren is attracting glances from a host of Premier League clubs including Fulham and Everton – with David Moyes even taking a delegation to watch the 24-year-old against FC Copenghagen.
The player himself has hinted at a move with Forren’s agent Jim Solbakken telling Norwegian paper Romsdal Budstikke: “There is still a big interest for Vegard. He is keen to get a new challenge.” This will be music to Fergie’s ears, given there is no return set for defensive linchpin Nemanja Vidic.
