The punters are winding down their weekends here at The Transfer Tavern when Diego Pico from MARCA informs us of the latest twist in the race for the signature of David Silva.
The 23-year-old was on the verge of a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer which collapsed after Valencia team mate David Villa snubbed a move to the Bernabeu.
According to the Spanish daily tabloid, Manchester United are preparing to make good use of the £80m they received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo by tabling a bid for the Los Che winger.
Having already added Antonio Valencia and former Real striker Michael Owen to the Old Trafford ranks, Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a keen admirer of Silva who has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool and a reunion with former manager Rafael Benitez.
So was it water, wine, whisky or white spirit at the root of this tale? Is Fergie finally going to splash the cash? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
