Ferguson Looks To Bring Spurs Star To Old Trafford

Recent reports suggest that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to bring spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone to the club in January, in a deal that is thought to be around £16 million.

With Owen Hargreaves still a considerable injury doubt, having not played a competitive game for the club for two years, and with the likes of Michael Carrick and Anderson seemingly out of form so far this season, it is though that Ferguson is looking to bring a commanding presence to the centre of his midfield and he believes Huddlestone fits the bill perfectly.

Having made only 3 international appearances, while representing at U21 level 33 times, a move to United could just be what Huddlestone needs to help himself break into Fabio Capello’s England side on a regular basis.

Huddlestone has been at Tottenham for over 5 years and although he has had some great times, successfully breaking into the top four with the North London club as well as winning the League Cup, it is thought that the possibility of a new challenge at Old Trafford could be too good for the former Derby County player to turn down.

However, with Spurs solid start to the season and successful achievement of reaching the Champions League for the first time in the clubs history, boss Harry Redknapp is looking to hold on to the 23 year old for as long as possible, but admits that if a bid of around the suggested amount comes in for the England international, it could be difficult for the White Hart Lane hierarchy to turn down the offer.
