FIFA to step in after controversial Manchester City deal

etihadmnaThe Manchester City fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening discussing reports concerning a player currently playing away from the club on loan.

ESPN are reporting that FIFA are set to move in and investigate the loan move of Anthony Caceres to sister club Melbourne City in the Australian A-League.

The controversial loan move took place just days after the 23-year-old made the move to Manchester City from Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

When the move occurred coaches from the other Australian club’s reacted negatively saying that the loan deal should not have taken place, but it appears that City found a loophole in the current FIFA rules that would see the player return to the A-League.

Current A-League rules prevent clubs in the competition from transferring players between themselves, but as Caceres was signed by an overseas club there was nothing to stop him from joining Melbourne.

But it now appears that the governing body will accept a rule change from next season to prevent the same scenario from occurring.

The Manchester City fans in The Transfer Tavern do not see what the big deal is as this sort of thing goes on in many countries around the world!
