Manchester United are once again in the news in the transfer window with the big move for Alexis Sanchez close to completion at the time of writing.
The Red Devils appear to be trying to add as many top talents to their squad as possible as they seek to catch up to Man City in the race for the Premier League title, and Sanchez certainly fits that mould.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been having some in depth chats with the United fans, and plenty have been reminiscing about their great teams of the 90s and 2000s, with some still believing they have never replaced the likes of Roy Keane, David Beckham, and Paul Scholes.
Our landlord though thinks there is a player out there who could replace Scholes at United. That player? Juventus star Miralem Pjanic, who has developed into one of the finest central midfielders in world football over the last few seasons.
Pjanic is a classy operator in the middle of the park, able to affect and dictate the flow and pace of a game, and having tremendous ability from set pieces.
His move from Roma to Juve has worked out tremendously, with the Bosnian playing a key part in the success last season of the Turin club, who narrowly lost out on Champions League glory after reaching the final.
A move to United could interest Pjanic though, and the player would no doubt take the Premier League by storm if given the chance.
