The Nottingham Forest fans in the Transfer Tavern are all ecstatic this morning as they can look forward to a season with one of their own, Michael Dawson, back at the club for the first time in after he left for Tottenham Hotspur back in January 2005. You can read more on the deal on the Forest website.

The majority of football fans will have fond memories of Michael Dawson, with the most memorable years of his career coming when he was a Tottenham player, partnering up with Ledley King at the heart of the Spurs defence. However, for Forest fans, they’ll be looking back to the early 2000’s when Dawson had three and a half years at the City Ground as a senior player as his best years.
The 34-year-old helped the club achieve a 6th place finish in the Championship back in the 2002/03 season, although they couldn’t manoeuvre the playoffs for promotion. Dawson has never played outside of England’s second tier with his boyhood club, although the one thing he’ll want to do is get back to the Premier League with Forest, and his experience in both the top-flight with Tottenham and the Championship with Hull City will come in handy as he returns to life in Nottingham.

Absolutely thrilled to bits with this news. I feel like the club is finally, finally back on the right track. Priorities, culture, philosophy. Come on.

I hope he still has something to offer. The Championship is a tough league, and he's 34.
