‘Finished at Arsenal’, ‘Destined for Stoke’ – Arsenal supporters slam star on Twitter despite West Ham victory

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted to progress into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup yesterday evening, but they were far from satisfied with the performance of one individual…

Arsenal had plenty of reason to fear West Ham yesterday evening considering The Hammers had already knocked out Tottenham Hotspur in the 4th round of the competition, but The Gunners did brilliantly to nullify the threat of their opponents and coast to a 1 nil victory at The Emirates Stadium. As is often the case in the EFL Cup, Arsene Wenger opted to field a weakened team for their quarter-final match and selected Theo Walcott to captain the side on only his 12th appearance of the season so far.

With the scores tied at 0-0, Walcott missed a glorious opportunity to fire Arsenal into the lead, but he placed his diving header the wrong side of Joe Hart’s right-hand post.

Fortunately for Walcott, Danny Welbeck later spared his blushes when he bundled the ball home just before half-time.

However, the Arsenal fans seem in no hurry to forget about Walcott’s miss and his uninspiring overall performance last night.

And plenty of supporters have begun calling for Wenger to offload the England international in January after rumours emerged linking him with a move to Everton.

Here’s what the Arsenal fans had to say about Walcott in the aftermath of proceedings.
