The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the summer transfer window, with most hoping that a new striker joins the club.
Despite the magic of Harry Kane, Tottenham have a lack of options going forward, and that’s been a problem this season. If the Englishman isn’t fit or firing, the Lilywhites are likely to struggle.
Fortunately, with the summer approaching, there is ample opportunity for Spurs to make things right, and so bringing in a new forward this summer should be at the top of their wishlist.
Though Pochettino is likely to consider a variety of options, one man that could be a good fit is Mariano Diaz of French club Lyon.
Formerly of Real Madrid, Mariano has been a sensational pick-up for the French side, having bagged a stunning 18 league goals so far this season.
An expert finisher, he’s the sort of player that everyone wants in their team. He’s very effective going forward, often making the most of any and every opportunity that he is given. Given that he wouldn’t likely be a starter in North London, he’ll need to impress at any given opportunity, which is something that Fernando Llorente hasn’t done this season.
Standing at 6ft tall, he’s a real threat in the air, and that physicality would make any transition to England far easier.
He’s been a part of a Lyon team that has looked very good this season, and for him, a move to Spurs would be somewhat of a natural step.
