Firmino contract agreed: Klopp must now ensure agreement with 57-cap international – agreed?

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been celebrating the news that Roberto Firmino has signed a new deal at Anfield over the last few hours.

Confirmed on Sunday, the news was something that most fans had been hoping for, and now they can rest easy knowing that the Brazilian attacker will remain at Anfield for a few more years yet.

However, for the Liverpool brass, the hard work is only just getting started. Securing the future of Firmino was a great step, but ensuring that Mohamed Salah remains at the club long-term is an even bigger, and a far more significant, task.

Sure, Salah only signed for Liverpool last summer, but his performances this term have proven that he deserves a much bigger, and a much longer, contract. In the modern game, the only way to ensure that a player remains loyal and wants to stay is to continually look to offer them improved terms, and it makes sense to offer Salah just that.

He has, undoubtedly, been Liverpool’s most important player this season. Bringing incredible pace, technique, and most importantly goalscoring, to Anfield, the Egyptian has become a bit of a hero at Anfield.

Having picked up 57 international caps, he’s already a seasoned veteran, but at Liverpool, he has gone from strength to strength.

Inevitably, big European clubs will be interested in him – especially looking at his remarkable goalscoring record of 31 league goals this term – and so it makes sense for Liverpool to be first to the button by making him an offer he cannot refuse.
