A win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday may have slightly eased the pressure on Arsene Wenger but the Gunners boss will be the first to admit it has been far from an ideal start to the 2014/15 season.
Prior to this evening’s fixtures, the win at The Hawthorns saw the Gunners move up to sixth in the Premier League table with 20 points from their opening 13 matches.
However, a title challenge looks out of the question already with Chelsea a huge 13 points ahead at the top of the table, meaning Arsenal find themselves in the familiar position of pushing for a fourth-placed finish this season.
Arsene Wenger also has the similar excuse of injuries to fall back on but the question once again is why did the Arsenal boss not strengthen properly in the summer?
Whilst Alexis Sanchez has carried the side with 12 goals in all competitions, the failure to sign a new centre back and a holding midfielder has proved costly – with no side having thrown away more points from winning positions than the Gunners.
Here we have identified five stars from La Liga Wenger could move for when he goes to strengthen his struggling squad once that January transfer window opens.
