It’s been a funny old season for Manchester United, but one that could still result in treble glory.
It’s fair to say this hasn’t been the best Manchester United side Sir Alex Ferguson has put together down the years, but it has proved to be one of the most efficient.
It seems this United team is simply programmed to get three points no matter what. They have made it difficult for themselves on countless occasions this season by falling behind, and yet have nearly always found a way to come back and win the game.
The title looks all but wrapped up, with a twelve point lead intact with just eleven games to play. You feel Sir Alex’s side has learnt the lessons of last season, and are unlikely to throw any sort of lead away in the manner they did last year.
And still they remain in the FA Cup Quarter finals, with a home tie against Chelsea to come, as well as a second leg Champions League second round tie against Real Madrid at Old Trafford.
The treble remains a real possibility as we enter ‘squeaky bum time’ as Fergie once famously called it.
It will certainly not be easy, but this United team have shown time and again they are programmed to win football matches no matter what.
