West Brom supporters in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with their side’s start to the new Premier League season.
The Baggies have started the new campaign in the best possible manner, earning a maximum six points from two games having beaten Bournemouth and Burnley. While proceedings on the pitch are going smoothly, West Brom’s manager, Tony Pulis, has expressed his ambition to sign new players before the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
While our landlord recognises that the 25-year-old flaunts a terrific goal-scoring record for the French side, he believes that West Brom should pursue a player whose acclimatised himself with the gruelling demands of English football.
Despite scoring three goals in four competitions this season, Nelson Oliviera has failed to secure a starting spot in Norwich’s team. The experienced striker enjoyed a tremendous term last season, scoring a total of 15 goals in 31 games – almost an average of a goal every two games.
Having also represented Swansea City and Nottingham Forest, he’s adapted to the fast nature and physical edge that is on display in the Championship and the Premier League.
At the age of 26, it could be argued that the former Benfica forward has yet to realise his full potential. While aspects of his game do require improvement, his finishing, dribbling and passing abilities are all mightily impressive. The arrival of Oliviera would seriously strengthen Pulis’ attacking options, and it would provide another dimension to the Welshman’s strikeforce.
