Chelsea will need a massive summer in the transfer market if they are to close the gap on the likes of City and United at the top of the pile, and while the future of Antonio Conte remains uncertain, there is concern here in the Tavern that the Blues will simply fall away.
Title winners by some distance only two seasons back, Chelsea endured a miserable league campaign last season, and although they finished the season with an FA Cup triumph, getting back into the Champions League will remain a priority.
Our landlord here in the Tavern has been bitterly disappointed in some of the buys Chelsea have made, and one which he simply cannot get over is the signing of Spaniard Alvaro Morata, who flattered to decieve at times at the Bridge last term.
With that in mind, he thinks the Blues should bin off the Spanish star, and instead make a move for Juventus man Paulo Dybala.
Valued at £90m by Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old Argentine has once again been in formidable form for Juventus, smashing in 21 goals this season as the Turin club romped to yet another Serie A title.
Dybala is simply a class act, and while different in style to Morata, he is of the same if not better ability.
It might take a huge splash of the wallet to land him, but Dybala would surely be worth it, and can put Chelsea back in with a genuine shout of recapturing the Premier League trophy.
Chelsea fans what do you think? Would Dybala be a good signing? Let us know!
