The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned at reports from Sky Sports linking their club with a move for Lille midfielder Yves Bissouma. The Malian is a bit of an unknown quantity in the Premier League, and at present, Spurs are in need of proven talent.
A move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, then, might be a better choice.
Ndidi has emerged as one of the Premier League’s finest midfielders over the last year or so, becoming the enforcer in the heart of the Leicester City midfield. He’s regularly featured amongst the most efficient tacklers in the English top flight, and that goes a long way to explaining what he’d bring to this team. A relentless runner, tackler and defender, he’s a real nuisance in the midfield for the Foxes.
On top of that, he’s also got a decent range of passing, and so if he were to, for example, serve as the replacement for Mousa Dembele, he’d undoubtedly be a good fit in that regard.
Significantly, at just 21-years-old, he’d also fit a number of other boxes for the club. Though he already has Premier League experience behind him, his best years are firmly in the future, and so from that standpoint, a move makes sense. What’s more, he’s also at an age in which Pochettino would be able to develop him – and so the prospect of him getting even better should be a mouthwatering prospect for the club.
Despite his slight frame, he’s able to dominate games and control the midfield, and so for Spurs – particularly alongside Eric Dier – he’d be a great asset.
