Forget Forrest: Title-chasing Liverpool should look at these 2 summer buys instead

It’s no surprise that Liverpool, the Premier League’s most impressive team at present, are looking to improve their team further. Top teams are made, after all, by striving permanently for perfection.

According to the Scottish Sun, Liverpool are already planning ahead for the summer, with the Reds keen on Celtic man James Forrest. Jurgen Klopp clearly wants to improve his attacking options in the summer, and with so many competitions being played so regularly, that makes perfect sense.

Forrest, for his part, is a fantastic player with lots of talent, but is he right for Liverpool?

Certainly, he’s good enough to play in the Premier League, but maybe the Reds should be aiming a little higher. After all, they’re chasing the title this term, and the potential Premier League champions could have their pick to top European talent.

Whilst Forrest is a great player, perhaps¬†these TWO options would be better for Liverpool…

Bertrand Traore

Bertrand Traore has been yet another one that got away for Chelsea, with the Burkina Faso man impressing since he swapped London for Lyon.

The winger has looked good in the league this season, having picked up 6 goals and 1 assist. He was just as good last term, too, picking up 13 goals and 4 assists in a very impressive Lyon team.

He’s best used on the right-hand side of the attack, much like James Forrest, and he offers a brilliant goal threat, especially given his fantastic cutting-in ability.

At 23-years-old, his best years are ahead of him, and he’d be a wise investment for Liverpool.

Roberto Pereyra

If Liverpool want to look closer to home, perhaps Watford’s Roberto Pereyra could be a good option. He’s not a player that would come in and immediately replace Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, but he’d certainly give them a run for their money.

The Watford ace has been a key part of the Hornet’s run in the Premier League, and he’s regularly offered a real threat down the flanks for the club.

This season he’s picked up 6 goals and 1 assist, and you’d expect him to continue to impress as the season continues.

As far as depth is concerned, Liverpool would struggle to do better than Pereyra.
