Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are starting to get anxious over their lack of transfer activity after watching their rivals land some big-name signings already.
Mauricio Pochettino committed his future to the club by signing a new deal but is yet to make his first move in the transfer market. With a new stadium waiting in the wings, owner Daniel Levy must back the Argentine to help the Lilywhites push on and challenge for the title. With Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United already landing their top targets, Tottenham need to make a move soon.
A winger is believed to be a priority this summer with moves for Wilfried Zaha, and Anthony Martial rumoured. The latest set of reports suggest that Tottenham will make Aston Villa winger, Jack Grealish, their prime target. While he is a promising player, Spurs must show more ambition if they want to compete with Manchester City.
Instead, they should target Bordeaux winger – Malcom. The Brazilian has enjoyed a stellar campaign during his breakthrough season in Ligue 1. He netted 12 goals and notched seven assists for the French side meaning his value has skyrocketed to £40.5m according to Transfermarkt. Primarily a right winger, Malcom can also play through the middle or on the left-wing.
The 21-year-old has brilliant pace, excellent dribbling ability and would be a significant upgrade on both Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura. According to Squawka, Malcom has completed more key passes, created more chances and made more successful take-ons per 90 minutes than both Tottenham’s current wingers.
If Tottenham don’t snap him up, someone else will, and Malcom has all the makings of a future star.
