Forget Hazard: £58.5m-rated attacker could be the difference for Chelsea against Crystal Palace

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to pick up a win against Crystal Palace this weekend. It has been a really tough few weeks for the Blues, and nothing less than a win against the Eagles this weekend will be expected.

Clearly, then, Antonio Conte’s squad have a big task on their hands, and they’ll no doubt have to rely on one or two or their most significant players to be the difference. More often than not, they have turned to Eden Hazard to be that player, but against Manchester City, he looked ineffective.

As a result, perhaps the emphasis could change this weekend, and our landlord is backing Alvaro Morata – who is rated at £58.5m-rated by Transfer Markt – to step up to the plate. The Spaniard has had a tough few weeks, but could that change this weekend?

It’s as good of a time as any, owing to Chelsea’s upcoming game against Barcelona. He needs to stake a claim to start the game, and unless he performs, that won’t happen. He’ll certainly know that, and so he’ll have an extra incentive to impress.

You’d also imagine that, for the first time in several weeks, the Spaniard is likely back to full fitness. He has really struggled with injury problems this season, but having been slowly reintroduced by Antonio Conte, and after playing a bit-part role over the last month or so, the Spaniard now could be back to his best.

Let’s not forget, too, his goalscoring record this season is still fairly decent. In 19 starts this term he has bagged 10 goals – which is not a record that can be ignored.

Of course, he hasn’t been at his best for much of the season, but Antonio Conte will be demanding a response this weekend – and Morata has all the tools to deliver it. The pressure is on him to deliver, and our landlord is backing him to score.
