Forget Higuain, Chelsea need to be looking to add this classy young German to their ranks

Chelsea will be hoping for a successful first season under new manager Maurizio Sarri, as the Blues look to regain their Champions League spot and challenge for the title.

Their new gaffer will no doubt be keen to put his stamp on proceedings at the Bridge, and a whole host of signings are expected in the coming weeks as Sarri prepares for his first job in England.

However, with Alvaro Morata no doubt on his way out and a potential swoop for Gonzalo Higuain in the pipeline, it’s clear Sarri is trying to add some firepower to the ranks.

Here in the Tavern, we think a new striker should indeed be on the shopping list, and we think German forward Timo Werner, a player who is valued at £54m by website Transfermarkt, would be a superb addition.

Werner has seen his stock rise over the last few seasons and once again was in impressive goalscoring form last term, knocking in 21 goals in all competitions.

Despite failing to massively impress over in Russia in the summer, Werner has developed himself into a top quality striker with the potential for being genuinely world class.

With Chelsea no doubt seeing plenty of changes this season, fans would surely be delighted to see someone like Werner join the ranks and fire them to glory in the coming seasons.

Chelsea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
