European nights in Liverpool are special. The city is bristling with all the usual suspects. Away fans marveling at the local girls’ beehives, early drinkers who’ll be lucky to find the ground, kids in bootleg scarves and the old chaps selling the Echo suddenly sat with a pile of programmes in front of them.
Let’s hope that not only the atmosphere but the game itself at Anfield beats the first leg. I’ll confess I switched over before half time. And to think people were moaning about the United game last night. Some sectors of the press seemed desperate for a witch hunt after that game and they weren’t given one.
Barcelona haven’t won away in Europe since 1403 and I don’t hear an angry mob baying for their blood too often.
Difficult to see this going anywhere other than a slender win by Liverpool. Ngog to score anytime in a 2-1 win is 14/1.
Oh yes. 6pm kick off!
