Forget Lemar, Arsenal should try and sign this £31.5m-rated attacking midfielder instead

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are fearing the worst after Arsene Wenger confirmed that a move for Thomas Lemar was not going to happen…

The Frenchman described any prospective deal as ‘dead’, with Arsenal clearly giving up all hope of landing the talented attacker. It’s a bitter blow for the Gunners, given that a move has looked possible until as late as last month, but Arsene Wenger doesn’t have time to worry about that.

With less than a week to go until the transfer window slams shut, the manager needs to move on from Lemar and target someone else – and £31.5m-rated Julian Draxler could be the perfect target for him.

Like Lemar, he’s an attacking midfielder that flourishes out wide – with his electric pace, fantastic deliveries and dribbling technique allowing him to really become a terror for opposition defenders.

He earned a big move to PSG last term, but the arrival of Neymar has left him without a guaranteed starting role, and so he could be keen to leave the club this summer. Arsenal could provide the perfect home for him, especially considering the fact that Alexis Sanchez’s contract expires next summer.

At 23-years-old, he’s still got a lot of potential to develop, but he’s also already a top player – having really impressed in the Bundesliga for Schalke and then Wolfsburg in recent years.

A move to Arsenal would be a natural progression, and it would help calm the concerns of the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
