There is once again a lot of uncertainty surrounding Newcastle United with owner Mike Ashley confirming that he hopes to sell the club before the new year (BBC Sport).
Nevertheless, it is still business as usual for manager Rafael Benitez who is likely to push Ashley or the Magpies’ potential new owner into making signings once the transfer window opens in January.
And one player the Spaniard is rumoured to have in his sights is Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek with the Daily Mirror reporting Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, West Ham and Bundesliga outfit Schalke could all move for the midfielder next month.
Benitez, though, would be wise to look at another Chelsea player in Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi’s future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear with the 18-year-old yet to extend his current contract which has 18 months left to run, and a move to a team like Newcastle could now be in his best interest.
The Chelsea youth product is desperate for more minutes, which Benitez should be able to provide him, while he is exactly the kind of wide player the Magpies could do with.
Hudson-Odoi is quick, can dribble, beat full-backs on either the inside or outside and had an eye for goal at youth level.
Be it in his preferred position out on the left or on the opposite flank, Hudson-Odoi is an individual who would bring much to this Newcastle side.
